Here is a summary of how to start competing in Scotland.

Go Karting - often the way that racing drivers get started, including Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris!
Trying karting at a leisure centre, such as Knockhill, Larkhall or Aviemore first is a smart way to gauge your interest and see if it's something you'd like to pursue further. It allows you to experience the thrill of karting without committing to buying all the gear and karting equipment upfront. Attending a race meeting is a
great idea too, chatting with drivers, parents, and watching the events can provide valuable insights into what it takes to get started and what the racing community is like.
You can start serious racing from 6 years old on a Bambino kart and 8-12s can race a Micro Max. In
addition, Knockhill now has two 2-seater tandem go-karts that allow parents to get on track with their kids as young as 4 years old!
Check out https://askc.co.uk/ for all the racing kart clubs throughout Scotland.

Bike Racing - the thrill of two-wheel racing from six years old on a Mini Moto!
Mini Motos are where it all began for legends like Valentino Rossi, as well as rising stars Rory Skinner and Lewis Rollo from Scotland. These miniature bikes offer an ideal entry point into racing, available to buy for as little as £500. They deliver all the skills and challenges of racing at venues like Crail and Knockhill. If the thrill of racing at circuits like Knockhill appeals to you, then that can be done from the age of 12 with
Formula 300 racing bikes.
Check out www.scottishminimoto.club for Mini Motos and https://www.knockhill.com/club/start- racing
Rally Driving - Do you want to become the next Max McRae?
Rally driving offers the exhilaration of drifting sideways and is accessible from as young as 14 years old. The Junior 1000 championship serves as an ideal pathway to acquire all the necessary skills for rally driving, providing valuable experience three years prior to hitting the roads. Driving vehicles such as Nissan Micras,
Skoda Citigos, or VW Ups, events are held across Scotland with an excellent support system in place to ensure young drivers stay on course.
